In a small lab in Lund, two researchers shared a conviction that biotechnology held the answer. Driven by a belief in nature’s efficiency, they looked beyond synthetic chemistry and instead turned to microorganisms, living organisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye. In these living systems, they discovered processes that could convert underutilised renewable resources into valuable materials. It was a discovery that merged environmental responsibility with economic opportunity, proving that sustainability could be scalable.

From those early experiments, Bioextrax emerged as a biosolutions company built on the principle that innovation should serve both people and the planet. Our first technology marked a breakthrough in sustainable production. By using bacteria to produce and extract biodegradable plastic replacements, we found a way to reduce waste while creating circular solutions for global industries.
